...for a Keeper and Greeter at The Kennel

Keeper and Greeter at The Kennel

You are the kind of person who straightens a store display while shopping and picks up trash while on a walk. You always get milk before you run out, and never forget your Uncle’s favorite jam. Making people feel welcome and tended to is second nature to you. Returning things to Amazon, or Costco is familiar territory.

You live your own life based on your Google Calendar and the GMail app is on your iPhone’s home screen. Managing a busy calendar comes naturally to you. You’re comfortable with Microsoft Office, but you prefer Google Docs. Dropbox/Box is your obvious choice for large document sharing/storage. You can track and book expenses, pay bills, and more. You’re active on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and technology isn’t something that scares you, instead you love to learn and are hungry to learn and try new tech.

You appreciate modern minimalist design, and are bothered when you see incongruity. Your design aesthetic is somewhere between between minimalist and contemporary. Efficiency matters to you. You care about your work space — for cleanliness, order, beauty, organization, and think about the affordance a space provides its inhabitants. You’re thoughtful and deliberate about every decision, with impeccable attention to detail.

Your friends think of you as kind and dependable, but never a pushover. You seek responsibility rather than avoid it, and rarely see job descriptions that fit you – as you don’t see your work as just what you are told to do.

You’re looking for a stable position that’s more than a job — where you’re a part of the family. And it’s your calling, not a stepping stone.

Our space is affectionately called The Kennel and we’re looking for a keeper and greeter at the Kennel. Oh, and you must love dogs.

Comfortable with:

  • welcoming visitors – serve as the greeter and the gatekeeper of the Kennel
  • making sure all guests and visitors follow the house rules
  • receiving deliveries
  • email and calendar coordination – managing conference room schedules and scheduling meeting and appointments
  • bookkeeping, paying bills, and retrieving and saving monthly statements
  • retweeting/reposting on Twitter and Facebook
  • keeping supplies, snacks, drinks, trashbags and even the TP stocked and organized
  • vendor management — making sure the cleaners are doing their job
  • determining what can be recycled in PA and communicating it elegantly
  • breaking down boxes and putting them into the recycling bin
  • replacing trash/recycling bags when full
  • putting out the trash bins for pickup once a week
  • running small errands, mailing stuff, picking up lunch, etc.
  • keeping the place sparkling clean and doing cleaning touchups as needed
  • picking up used glasses or cups after meetings
  • loading, running and unloading the dishwasher as needed
  • keeping track of invitation lists and event RSVPs
  • event coordination — ordering food, setting up, welcoming guests, cleaning up
  • staying late once a month or so to help coordinate evening events
  • occasionally walking the dog
  • doing what needs to be done

Who are we? We’re K9 Ventures, a technology focused micro-VC fund in Palo Alto. We’re a lean operation, run very much like a startup, not like a big VC fund. We practice what we preach and don’t have the airs and arrogance that are typically associated with “venture capital.” We believe that Being Differentis a good thing and that being successful doesn’t mean you can’t still be nice 🙂

We’re located in Palo Alto close to the San Antonio Rd exit and 101.

If this sounds like the right match for you, then email us at keeper@k9ventures.com and tell us why you’d be an ideal candidate for this position and include some links that show us who you are and information on your background and qualifications. We will run a background check and check on and off-list references before hiring.
